Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan has been voted the best war movie of all time in a recent survey conducted by online movie ticketing website MovieTickets.com. The Tom Hanks starrer beat films such as Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now to clinch the crown. Out of the 25,000 votes cast, Saving Private Ryan grabbed a huge 56 percent share and literally annihilated the competition.

I'm not at all surprised by this huge win, because I just fail to think of a reason why any other war film would even try standing shoulder to shoulder with this war epic. Apart from Spielberg's midas touch and top-notch performances by Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, this flick has a mysterious appeal attached to it. And that's not going to fade in a hurry.
