Grey's Anatomy star Washington Agrees to Spread Gay Awareness

'Grey's Anatomy' star Isaiah Washington, who last week passed a gay slur about his co-start T.R. Knight, has agreed to meet with a U.S. gay education organization to discuss ways to educate youth about anti-gay slurs.

Kevin Jennings, executive director of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network said,

He seemed very sincere in his interest in working with us in an ongoing basis.

We emphasized that this is not a one-shot deal, but an ongoing thing. He was very open to doing this.

Washington met Jennings and Neil Giuliano, president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

Monday is the first day of GLSEN's fourth annual nationwide school campaign 'No Name-Calling Week.'

GLSEN's 2005 National School Climate Survey revealed that 75% of LGBT students reported hearing derogatory remarks like 'faggot' or 'dyke' frequently or often in school.

The program aims to end name-calling by creating a dialogue about the problem with students and schools and by providing the tools to eliminate bullying.

Washington himself used the term 'faggot' about cast-mate TR Knight during an on-set argument with co-star Patrick Dempsey.

Washington later issued an apology after he was publicly criticized by GLAAD and chastised by ABC
